Over fourteen years of progressive experience in Arts Education,
currently completing graduating project of Master’s
Degree, qualifications include a Bachelor of Visual Arts, a Bachelor of Education and I.B. Art & Design certification.

Experiences also include the duties of a Faculty
Associate in the Faculty of Education at The University of Lethbridge,
Alberta.

Maintains a “life-long learning” philosophy. Professional
development spans from Victoria, British Columbia to Miami, New Mexico to Venezuela, the Southern Caribbean and Northern Saskatchewan .
Successfully completed the final year of the Master’s of
Art Education from the University of Victoria. Studies thus far
have explored: “How Theories of Identity are Being
Actualized and Transformed in a Proliferating Cyber Culture”,
a “Practical Guide for Arts Educators Planning a
Fine Arts Festival” and "Identity: Experiences in Collaborative Portraiture."

Unique educational experiences include teaching grades
7-12 in an English Second Language First Nations and Metis Community
in Northern Saskatchewan. International experiences include employment
as an International Baccalaureate Art & Design Educator
at the private International School of Curacao, in the Netherland
Antilles, Caribbean. Alternative educational experience
includes providing education and life skills to young offenders
in an open custody residential environment/group homes.

Provided cartoon illustration for the popular Dene-English children’s
book The Toothless Beaver, which is
now being used in both Flash animated and print format throughout
Northern Saskatchewan schools. Actualized an extra-curricular
Film and Video Club and received
an Alberta Foundation For the Arts in Education Grant
for Brooks Composite High School arts education programs in 2004-2006. Recent professional development includes the production of Digital Video programs and products, including "De-Grassilands," the 2006 Drama class collaborative presentation and DVD. Another one of Shelley's successful professional growth activities in 2006/07 involved upgrading the Yearbook class software programs to include InDesign CS2.
- Operates a successful home-based studio, creating
art and design work for private collectors/institutions.
- Shelley started the "Smelly Shelley Soap Factory" in November, 2006. Her coconut lime, bubble gum, banana mango, and green tea scented soaps are fast becoming increasingly popular and sought after product on the craft market circuit.
