What's New? Art Club Report:

This April has been exciting!

  1. We just purchased 20 excellent Opus brand frames for student artwork. These frames will be filled and on display throughout the school during the school year! A big THANK YOU to MR. WIHLIDAL AND MR. WIEST for their support of this project!
  2. We are having a small ART SHOW AND SALE at the school on the same night as the Drama Dessert Theatre. Hope to see you in the LHS foyer, multipurpose room or gym April 29th @ 7:00.
  3. Megan B. and Ms. D have been painting a new logo in the gym! Check out the Angel and Devil logos on the stage wall! A big THANK YOU to MR. WIHLIDAL and MR. WIEST for helping us get the necessary scaffolding for the job! I'm betting that we will be putting it to good use at the school in the coming years!

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE ARTS IN EDUCATION!

WHO?

All Lumsden High School Art Students are encouraged to participate.

WHEN?

Monday through Thursday at NOON in the Fall. We will regroup in the Spring for the Art Show on April 29th.

WHERE?

Lumsden High School Art Room or designated location.

WHY?

What do we want the LHS Art Club to be/look like?

*   Fun place to eat lunch over the noon hour *   Monday to Thursday *   Time to get extra help from the teacher*   Time to watch films about art and entertainment industry and artists *   Community beautification projects *   Field trips
*   Promote/celebrate student art (organizing displays) *   Update/maintain art department and art club web pages *   Keep membership participation flexible/open door to allow for cross-club mixing and participation *   Special interest workshops and time to create 'bonus’ projects *   Pottery wheel time

WHAT?

  • So far, we have watched and discussed three films: Finding Nemo (Sept.), Nosferatu (Oct.), and Citizen Kane (Nov.).
  • For those of you wanting extra origami practice, come to the art room to try some MONSTER ORIGAMI. I suggest seeing Hilary or Montana for details.
  • Pottery Wheel Time is now available (However, students Must Book a Wheel in Advance) . See Ms. Deck or email her your request.
  • Hand Painted T-Shirt Painting Activities are in the works. T-shirts are available from Ms. Deck for $3...or you can pick one up at any Giant Tiger store.
  • Several school beautification projects are in the works and will be revealed as soon as the teams are formed and the projects are well underway (ie. Music room 'Music' mural, School mascot paintings in the gym/on the stage...)
  • Of course, students who want to work on their current or overdue or re-worked project are also welcome to drop in!
  • MORE LATER!
